Welcome
Thank you for visiting. Whether you are importing your first product or managing a large range across many markets, the question is the same: what does the regulator require, and can you prove that you have met it?
Universal Approvals is an Australian-owned consulting firm, founded in 2021 by Chartered Professional Engineers. We guide products through the whole approval process — testing, certification, registration and local representation — from the first question about scope to the mark on the product. All of the work is done in-house, by our own engineers.
If you have a compliance question, a product that needs approval, or a regulator asking something you cannot yet answer, the best place to start is a conversation. The first fifteen minutes are free.

About us
Universal Approvals Pty Ltd is an Australian-owned compliance and certification consultancy based in Melbourne, founded in 2021 by Chartered Professional Engineers. We work with manufacturers, importers, distributors and overseas brands placing electrical, electronic, telecommunications and medical equipment on regulated markets.
Our engineers are Registered Chartered Professional Engineers with Engineers Australia, and bring more than sixteen years each in regulatory compliance and product approvals. We have worked with some of the largest companies in Australia and overseas, and with first-time importers bringing a single product to market. The work is the same in principle: establish what the regulator requires, establish what the client already has, and close the difference with evidence that will stand up.
We specialise in obtaining critical regulatory approvals, including RCM, CE, UKCA, FCC, IC/ISED, SNI and SDPPI — and in acting as the local representative those schemes require.
We combine technical understanding with practical regulatory guidance. Our role is not just to explain requirements, but to help businesses manage the approval pathway, reduce avoidable delays, and present compliant documentation that stands up to regulator and certification body expectations.
How we work
A short consultation to establish the product, its intended use and every market you are targeting. Intended use drives risk classification, and risk classification drives everything else.
We assess what you already hold — CB reports, EU or FCC test data, declarations, labels and manuals — against the requirements of each target market, and set out the gap in writing.
We build the test plan, coordinate ILAC/MRA-recognised laboratories and accredited certification bodies, and resolve non-conformities as they arise rather than at the end.
Registration, marking, declarations and the local representative role — then ongoing surveillance of standards changes so approvals do not quietly lapse.
Approval services
Universal Approvals specialises in providing advice to manufacturers and suppliers of electrical, electronic, telecommunication and medical equipment regarding compliance and labelling requirements in Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Canada, Great Britain, the European Union and Indonesia.
Common questions
Australia and New Zealand are our core markets — RCM, EESS, ACMA and WorkSafe NZ. We also run compliance reviews and market-access programmes for the United States, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Indonesia. Where a market needs a local legal entity to hold a certificate, we tell you that up front and help you arrange it.
No — and that is deliberate. Universal Approvals is a consulting firm, not a test laboratory or a certification body, and we hold no ownership interest in either. Our engineers define the test plan, review the results and compile the documentation in-house. Where accredited testing is required by law, we coordinate a named, accredited laboratory that you approve. Because we earn nothing from sending you to a particular lab, the pathway we recommend is the one your product actually needs.
Yes. Universal Approvals Pty Ltd is an Australian-registered entity (ABN 47 681 363 968) and acts as ERAC Authorised Representative and Responsible Supplier for overseas manufacturers, including EESS registration, documentation management and regulator liaison. Equivalent representative arrangements can be organised for the EU, the UK, the USA, Canada and Indonesia.
A free 15-minute consultation is usually enough to identify the regulatory regime, the likely risk classification and the main evidence gaps. A written compliance review with a costed pathway typically follows within a few business days of receiving your product details and existing test reports.
